There’s something special about the ability to embrace a process that is so slow in a world that is so fast. Creating quilts allows me to be closer to the people around me. Handmade quilts are an excuse to go an an unrealistic amount of picnics in the park, or to share a blanket with your mom during movie night, or to get a picture of your niece every night reading bed time stories under the quilt you made her. I have spent long afternoons cutting, sewing and constructing quilts for those I love in my life. Gifting them a physical and personal present that requires so much labor is how I show my loved ones how I care for them. And by the way, not talking in a creepy way, more of an “endearing, motherly, weird random girl at the trampoline park who is 10 years older than me but feels some sort of moral obligation to talk to me about this” kind of way. I just consider it the tax I must pay because I have been given the gift of being so unafraid of 12 year old boys. Shocking to say the least, none of them have had the consent talk. And also shocking, but somehow less shocking, neither have 18 year old boys. Just how much do men misunderstand consent? Here are some stats: ︎︎︎&nbsp;1 in 10 people surveyed (16-18 year olds) said they weren’t sure or didn’t think it was rape to have sex with a woman who was very drunk or asleep. ︎︎︎&nbsp;A third of men thought that if a woman had flirted on a date it wouldn’t be considered rape if she hadn’t explicitly consented to sex. ︎︎︎&nbsp;Almost 25% believed that in long term relationships, sex without consent was not normally considered to be rape. &nbsp;︎︎︎ Men had a more difficult time identifying which scenarios would be categorized as consent. Colleged aged students are especially vulnerable to misunderstand consent, as 54% of sexual assault victims are ages 13-34.&nbsp;Plus, when we take into account that&nbsp;93% of victims know their abusers, chances are that people aren’t generally malicious, just ignorant. KEY INSIGHT: people generally aren’t malicious, just ignorant. But how do we get them to listen? Out of all the brands in the world, which one is best positioned to take a stand on places like college campuses?&nbsp; The idea that “no means no” is easy to get behind. WNRS: a card game all about loving deeper. Somehow the perfect pair? Let me explain. 71% of consumers say they enjoy when brands come together to create a unique product, and they (market research experts) say that “the best collaborations are those that truly bring value to both sides.” &nbsp;Co branding can be tricky: the brands have to have shared values, otherwise it will feel forced and ingenuine.&nbsp; When looking at brands that could pull something so big off, one of the most important thing to consider is the level of brand loyalty in customers. When new products take a different direction through a collaboration, brand loyalists are the ones that will take your products home. It would need to be new, exciting, and highly shareable on Instagram to reach aspirational instagram posters. And why kelloggs is the perfect brand to do the job. Why do cereal companies only advertise to kids (they don’t have money) and parents (their lives are boring). Why are they never comforting after a breakup or in the middle of a party? You would be suprised at how much cereal a college student eats. Seems like an important demographic to me. I had an audience in mInd quickly got to the research. Crazy enough, more than 50% of adults have 2 or more email addresses, and 28% of adults have more than four email addresses. And based on a survey I wrote and conducted, 85% of people create a new email for a new purpose.&nbsp; A new purpose such as the new hobby they’re embracing, their passion for accounting, or their email to give gardening advice on their blog. KEY INSIGHT: Passions and hobbies make up who you are. Different email addresses are like a different window into a person’s life.
